Working with Duncan Stevenson and Jon Pine, we created 'Accessibility In Focus' in response to a brief set by the web design firm, Reading Room. The brief required us to come up with a concept to encourage a varied target audience to realise that accessible web design can be beautiful.

We had to produce a microsite that was not only accessible in itself but also promote the ideas of accessibility while not compromising on asethetics. The microsite also needed some form of data capture for marketing e-mails. We needed to make sure there would be a good enough reason to encourage people to sign up.

Our concept was based around the idea of an award website celebrating beautiful and accessible web design, which we named 'Accessibility In Focus'. People would be encouraged to submit thier sites for the award in which they could recieve £1000 for thier efforts. They would be invited to sign up to a newsletter which would continue to inform them about the progress of the awards.

The site was designed by Duncan Stevenson, and I took on the role as web developer. It was implemented to meet the WC3 AA WAI Standard as well as having accessible XHTML & CSS. We also made sure we conformed to government legislation such as the DDA and e-government guidelines. We succseeded in producing a beautiful site which is truely accessible and that will allow many different users to view the content and take part in the awards.
