CityProfiler was my first university project in which we were asked to select a place that we wished to explore through multimedia. The project was designed to make us think in a more creative way, and explore ideas and develop them fully.

The basis of the project involved selecting a 'Place' of some sort that we would like to explore. I choose Hong Kong because of its vibrant qualities and its Western meets Eastern culture.

I was lucky enough to be able to visit Hong Kong during the project time frame, and was able to captured video footage that documented my time in Hong Kong as well as photos and an interview with residents of Hong Kong.

With all this information gathered, I documented what I had captured and my findings. From this I began to develop a multimedia artefact that could explore the place. My final idea manifested itself in the conception of a community lead online application which allowed people to upload information about their experiences in cities around the world, namely 'City Profiler'.

I created a flash presentation describing how the system would work, it included a mock up of the UI what would be used in the application which was designed after research into UI dos and don'ts by Jakob Neilson. It also included information points describing what was happening on screen.

The presentation summarised my research into how the system would communicate with a database to store the information, and how the content would be displayed on the page. The presentation also demonstrated certain aspects such as the search function, the ability to provide feedback on profiles and the account settings page.
