Emma Snowdon, a jewellery designer, wanted a clean, simple and accessible site to showcase her work to prospective stockists and potential buyers. She also wished to have the ability to sell her work through the website.

After a number of discussions with Emma, the outline and direction of the site was devised and during this processes Emma expressed a wish to be able to update certain aspects of the site herself.

I designed a very simple content management system using PHP and a MySQL database to store the information. It allows for Emma to update existing products on the site as well as add new products and collections.

To keep in with costs and time contraints, it was decided that the product information pages needed to be content managed so that Emma could add and delete products as she needed as well as edit exisiting products to cope with fluxuations in the cost of materials and time.

PayPal was integrated with each of the product using PayPal's 'Buy Now' functions, which was populated with data from the database about each product.

With the backend designed, the front end needed to be simple and easy to navigate displaying all of Emma's products in a structured way. This lead to the 'Collections' and 'Sub category' structure, allowing the visitor to visually see how the products are grouped together allowing for them to be easily found.

To further entice visitors to purchase products from the site, they have the ability to customise certain products from different collections - for example they can request different stones and chain lengths, this information is then sent to Emma for review and a quotation can be sent back.
