Multimedia has the ability to reach out to many people across generations, races and with the use of the internet, the world. As a multimedia designer I have the ability to create something that will 'Make a Difference' to many people that traditional media can't.
With this in mind I decided to approach the subject of Testicular Cancer, with the aim of being able to promote awareness without preaching and help those already effected by it.
After extended research into Testicular Cancer and the current awareness campaigns I identified what was currently being done and how I could use multimedia to 'Made A Difference' in a different more personal way.
I decided to create an interactive website that would be based around the concepts used in sites such as YouTube where users can upload their own video. In this case they can upload their own experiences about Testicular Cancer - whether they are the sufferer themselves or a family member working to cope with it.
The developed product is only a simulation of how it could work, based on research I conducted outlining the technologies behind it.
The design of the site was constructed around the idea of 'Tabs' each of which would display different kind of content. This played on the idea of people looking through for content, using flash the tabs would be animated to aid interactivity. To make the videos as accessible as possible I also designed a 'mini viewer' that allowed people to view their videos quickly and also share them with their friends.
